To be honest, I'm usually in the camp that skips every second NHL title because it's hard to justify what seems like a few enhancements and a roster update for the price of a AAA game, but this time they've done a fantastic job with improvements that are very hard to resist.

Damn fine way to celebrate your 20th title. NHL 12 is a must purchase for hockey fans or even those who have passing interest in the sport. NHL 12 is a huge game completely jam-packed with modes and gameplay features. NHL 12 excels in many aspects and is filled with a lot of content.

I love hitting other players in this game because the hitting mechanics are just great in this game. I also love the graphics and the goalie improvements that they made. Just awesome NHL game!!! I really enjoyed this game and think that EA Sports did a great job with the improvements.

That being said, you'll realize glitch goals are even more present than in its predecessor.

Skate in diagonal, pull a wrist shot and it's in the net. You don't need to pull off a leg kick and simulate a real shot anymore. Despite all of that, the fight and physical engine is great. Building an enforcer D-man, maximizing your strength and body checking will be worth a lot of hilarious moments. The offline modes suck, too. Try to be as immersive as you can, but you'll face an extremely repetitive in-game on-ice experience. The AI acts the same, and acts badly most of the time.

I still recommend this game for the competitivity, but don't expect much outside of that. This series is repetitive and is put on the bottom of the list in sports games for EA. And I love hockey, don't get me wrong. The game got some minor improvements such as the fights, skating again , collision fixes, and a "new" deking system. C'mon EA you can do better than that! In NHL 13, they completely dropped the ball.
