The autofocus will hunt in low light, but it is very usable in moderate to good light. Image quality is a little softer. For mm, it's better to use the lens at F5. To get mm, it's a hard call whether it's better to use no TC and crop, or use the TC. Sometimes one is better, sometimes the other. If you're going to crop a lot, the TC is usually better, as without the TC you start to run low on pixels, which makes the image look grainy.
Kenko 2x with the Tamron is no go. As Richard says, autofocus is essentially unusable. And neither TC is manual focus friendly; you have to turn the focus gears manually. This is harder than focusing normally, it makes a grinding sound, and I doubt that it's very healthy for the focus gears in the camera. I use these two TCs mainly with automatic focus lenses. Even with manual focus the and a 2x TC is no go; the image is too soft and muddy.
