Visit the program website. SOS Signs of Suicide SOS is a universal, school-based prevention program designed for middle school ages and high school ages students. The goals of this program are:. Through a video and guided discussion, students learn to identify warning signs of suicide and depression in a single class period.
At the end of the session, students complete a seven-question screening for depression anonymous or signed — the school can decide to further encourage help-seeking and connect students at risk with trusted adults.
The curriculum raises awareness about behavioral health and encourages students to ACT Acknowledge, Care, Tell when worried about themselves or their peers. The annual license provides access to planning materials, classroom videos, curricula, and screening forms as well as resources for training faculty, staff, and parents. To help practitioners find programs that fit their needs, NREPP reviews the evidence for specific outcomes, not overall programs.
SOS does not limit its outlook to one area of knowledge or theory of alcoholism and addiction. SOS respects recovery in all forms, and is not in competition with any other program or group. As a group, SOS-NY has no opinion on outside matters and does not wish to become entangled in outside controversies. This group does not discriminate on grounds of race, gender, sexual preference, religious or non-religious affiliation.
This is an alternative to traditional twelve-step groups, but is often used in conjunction with other forms of recovery support. Secular Organizations for Sobriety has helped countless thousands of addicted persons reclaim their lives for over 28 years.
